Facts:
-11.5 full scholarships are only allowed for Division I and II.
-These scholarships are divided into quarters and half scholarships to spread out over the roster of 35 players per spring team.
-They are renewable each year and they can be continued or lost based on performance, coaching change, or better athletes
entering the freshman class. There are NO Guarantees
-A committed athlete does not automatically receive a scholarship or a spot on the roster.
-A walk-on athlete is trying out for the team because the coaching staff does not know anything about his skills
-If you are a dual athlete in football/baseball you have to sit out a year of baseball so football does not misuse the scholarship
-If you are an international student you have about a 2% chance of receiving any athletic schlolarship money
-If you are a academically gifted student or a very financially poor student you can receive grants and academic scholarships
that will pay for your college tutition/room/board. Athletic programs will fact this into their "package" and promise to make up
the difference.
IF you have great grades, athletic ability, common sense, and determination to participate then you will be able to find a home in collegiate athletics somewhere within the USA. If you lack any of the four elements of a productive student/athlete you will struggle with your collegiate career and you will have to make many adjustments to improve your opportunities to play.
